Making the Best Career Choice

Why IT

Why IT?

A few years ago the "dot-com meltdown" and the outsourcing of IT work overseas caused considerable doubt over the future of IT as a career.

That era of doubt is over. No one questions the viability of an IT career anymore. Today, Information Technologists are essential to business.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 25% of the fastest growing occupations through the year 2014 will be IT careers. The need is especially strong for people who have honed their academic, technical, and interpersonal skills by earning associate, baccalaureate, and master degrees.

This dependency continues to grow, creating a high demand for IT employees in every level and sector of business. Thousands of job offerings are advertised nationally every day—for people with the right technical and academic training.
Where to Start

Where to Start

If you are in high school, you can begin to investigate the IT field or experience college level courses by participating in one of the programs for high school to college.

Higher education is a must for anyone choosing an IT career, but there are many educational options. You may choose to complete a help desk certificate or an associate's degree, then enter the workforce with the option of further education later; or you may choose to go straight into a bachelor's degree program and gain experience through internships.
