An Expert on Cyber Security Says:

From Firasat Khan, Security expert at the Center:

The Internet has become an indispensable medium for learning, productivity, entertainment and communication over the past decade and it is exciting to take advantage of continued innovation of Internet tools and technologies. However, to become smart consumers of this medium, it is crucial we recognize evolving threats and take simple measures against them.

In this 5th year since the launch of the National Cyber Security Month, the Center is joining ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of casual computing and Internet use. The online S.H.I.E.L.D. games created by the Center and provided here are a fun way to test and reinforce knowledge about six key information and Internet security areas. We also strongly recommend National Cyber Security Alliance's www.StaySafeOnline.org and the Internet Education Foundation's www.GetNetWise.org for more useful information and engaging content for people of all ages.

Minneapolis Community & Technical College faculty members Andy Chrastek and Richard Pollak, along with Firasat Khan created the S.H.I.E.L.D. model for application at various levels of information security education.
