The initiative continues! The WFC leadership team has a full agenda planned. Updates on the current condition of both Minnesota IT talent (Supply) and industry needs (demand), An outline of the vision and structure, and breakout sessions for the two demonstration projects (one in the works, the other to be decided at this meeting), as well as formation of committees for three task forces will fill the morning. A continental breakfast will be served.

Demo Projects:
Project Team One: "Promoting IT Careers to High School Students," championed by General Mills, Inc.

Project Team Two: Theme - Capitalizing on career changers and workers in transition (to be developed by taskforce).

Task Forces:
Supply: The purpose of this committee is to comprehensively define trends and projections in current and projected sources of IT workers in Minnesota that cover the period from 2004 through 2014, and identify high potential strategies to meet the quantitative and qualitative expectations needed to help position Minnesota as a top ten IT talent market. Demand: The purpose of this committee is to comprehensively define MN IT Workforce key demand elements including but not limited to skills, trends, competencies and compensation across a broad range of companies in IT. More...

Communications: The purpose of this committee is to prepare and execute a comprehensive, two-fold internal/external communications strategy. More...

An Action Initiative

The Minnesota IT Workforce Collaborative is a voluntary network of companies, professional associations, educators, nonprofits and government agencies that work together to increase both the number and capabilities of IT professionals working in Minnesota.

Information technology plays an important role in overall business success and regional economic competitiveness. The collaboration will establish Minnesota as a top ten U.S. labor market for companies that create IT products and services and/or rely on extensive IT operations to support their core business.
